Please do not Copy and Paste from external page editors or word processors such as Microsoft Word to create your page content.
Microsoft Word and other third-party word processors were not intended for the web and they do contain some proprietary codes which can interfere with your template and page coding. The can cause problems such as leaving pieces of your page missing, as well as leave funny-looking characters on your pages such as little "diamond question marks".
If you have previously copied and pasted from Word or another program and have experienced problems, simply deleting the text from the page won't solve the problem. This would still leave some hidden code in the page that you can't see on the front end. Here is what you need to do to fix the problem:
1) Open the page in your store admin that you need to fix.
2) Click the "HTML" or < > button, depending on which version of the store admin software you have, to reveal all the code.
3) Select all the code from this page, and delete.
4) Save your page. Now you can start fresh and follow these steps to copy and paste properly:
If you must copy and paste from other sources, please use this tip to remove the formatting beforehand.
1) Copy the text by selecting it with your mouse and hitting CTRL+C (Copy).
2) Open a plain text editor on your computer - Windows users can find Notepad by clicking Start > Programs > Accessories > Notepad.
3) Now Paste the text into Notepad by hitting CTRL+V (Paste). This will clear all the formatting.
4) Now copy all the text again, by selecting all the text and hitting CTRL+C again (Copy).
5) Now Paste this unformatted text into your web page by putting your cursor onto the page and hitting CTRL+V (Paste).
