    New Here

    Hello everyone!
I am new here and trying to set up my shop ??? My website name is CharmingWebDesign.com.
I have used ZenCart but this seems a bit harder somehow. Although, I only received my information today.
I am a new web designer but my roots for design come from digital scrapbooking. I have been digi scrap designing for over 3 years, using PHotoshop CS2. I hope to learn much from all of you.

    Welcome Ruthie!

First of all, take everything you know about Zen, and throw it out the window!! This is so much simpler than Zen. There are a couple of other designers on the board so if you need any tips, just let us know.

When I can find the time, I enjoy digiscrapping too, I'll have to check out some of your stuff. I'm shamed to say that I have TONS of digiscrap graphics that I have never even used. I spent so much money on unused graphics last year. It's not even funny. :-[ I am a digiscrap 'graphics addict'. LOL.

    Re: New Here

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome!

I have tons of digi scrap CU stuff from Photoshop actions to all the elements, just to recolor, etc.

I have my own pages all ready to go. I just thought I needed to FTP them to the server like any other website, but nope!

How do I get my website up here?

Totally confused right at the moment..... eeeek ???

Nope..... that's why I said to take everything you know about Zen and throw it out the window!

    Here's a guide:
    http://shoppepro.com/forums/index.php/topic,6.0.html

Basically, the easiest way would be to:

    1) First create your template layout in html.
    2) Then insert the 'include codes' where you want each component to go. (use the ones with the % at the beginning and end)
    3) Log into your store administration area: yourdomain.com/storeadmin
    4) Click on "template" on the left side.
    5) Then copy your created template html code and paste it into the Custom Template area of your store administration.

That's it. Much simpler than Zen.

One more thing... all pages are managed through the store admin. You won't be FTP-ing them. Pretty much everything is done through your store admin.

    Temeka,
If you want to create your own template, you'll definitely need to know something about html. There are tons of resources on html and in fact, a large percentage of web designers are self taught. There are lots of free html editors out there to start practicing with. One I know of is http://www.trellian.com/webpage/ but I'm sure some of the other designers can recommend some others. I originally started practicing html just by using notepad in about 9 years ago, but now I use Dreamweaver CS3 to save time. You can try googling "teach yourself html" and I'm sure you'll find lots of tutorials and resources. Hope this helps.

Where do I upload my images for my template, and my template consists of 2 pages. One being the front or index.html page and the other are all corresponding pages. Can this be done?

Thanks for your help Katrina. ;D
